PROFESSIONAL PROFILE:
Maren
Perry practices in all phases of domestic and foreign trademark
prosecution, including the management of international trademark
portfolios and advising clients on portfolio strategies. She has
extensive experience in all areas of trademark law including
trademark clearance, prosecution, investigation and enforcement. As
part of her work in client counseling, she reviews product
packaging, advertisements and publications for intellectual property
issues. Ms. Perry also advises clients on various issues related to
the protection of copyright including validity, ownership and
duration. Ms. Perry also has significant experience litigating
opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial
and Appeal Board, UDRP actions before WIPO, advising clients on
enforcement strategies, filing recordations with the U.S. Customs
and Border Protection Service, and assisting Customs in enforcing
intellectual property rights. Her experience extends to a wide range
of industries including luxury goods, cosmetics, media and
entertainment.
Before joining Leason Ellis, Ms. Perry was Counsel at King &
Spalding LLP and an Associate at Morgan & Finnegan LLP.
In 2008, Ms. Perry co-authored an article titled "Protecting
Well-Known and Famous Marks: A Global Perspective" published in
Building and Enforcing Intellectual Property Value magazine.
Ms. Perry is the Chair of the New York Intellectual Property Law
Association's William C. Conner Writing Competition Committee. She
is also a member of the International Trademark Association.
